How to choose a Mold company
Word of mouth
A good way of determining a reputable mold removal company is to speak to your neighbors, friends, and family members that may have had similar services provided. Their experiences may help in recommending a company that may assist. They may even highlight which ones to stay away from. Whether it’s questions from their prior research that may be helpful in narrowing your research or even help prepare you for what expectations should be met, speaking to someone who you trust (that have had a similar experience) may be helpful in making your decision.
Online reviews
Reputable reviews may help in determining which mold removal company you should trust to provide services within your property. It is said that a client is much more likely to tell six people about a bad experience as opposed to telling two people about a good experience with a service provider. One aspect we recommend is to also look at the other reviews the reviewer has made to help determine if they are being sincere about their experiences. Unfortunately, some organizations may convince friends and/or family members into leaving a favorable review for a service that wasn’t provided. If you are able to determine the sincerity with the review left and feel comfortable with the mold testing provider, then continue to do further research before committing.
Certifications
Ensuring that the mold service provider is experienced and knowledgeable in completing the task at hand is critical. Ensuring that the service is thoroughly completed and additional areas within the property aren’t compromised is the goal. A reputable mold inspection company should have certifications highlighting their knowledge within the industry. One way to also choose a reputable mold removal company is ensuring that (the mold company you are hiring) they have a proven track record for delivering the service promised on time and completed efficiently.
Years in Business
One key decision in choosing a mold remediation company is there years of experience in the industry. Being able to stand the test of time by operating successfully a business 10+ years displays stability. A significant number of years within business also ensures the least likehood of a mold contractor running off with your deposit and failing to return.
Insurance
Ensure that the mold removal company has current proof of commercial general liability insurance and is able to list you as a beneficiary if something goes wrong. The potential of a mold remediation company not having proof of insurance should be a major red flag to them not operating in its entirety. Within the State of New Jersey mold remediation companies are required to have a Home Improvement contractor license and should have at minimum a million-dollar policy in the case any accidents or damage occurs. Inquire and require proof of such before committing to a mold removal provider for any large projects within your property.
Service Directories
Be careful of the “lists” and “advisors” that recommend mold removal contractors and mold inspection services. These organizations spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote themselves and offer their services to you the client for “free”. Once you provide your contact information to the potential companies for say mold inspection or for mold testing they sell your contact information to multiple service providers (who are unable to rank their websites or market themselves properly) for the highest bid. These mold service providers are then incentivized to upsell and charge a premium to you the clients as the have already dished out so much money to the service directory to purchase your lead.
No free lunch
Be aware of mold contractors that provide free inspections. “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” Mold removal contractors that provide free Inspections are incentivized to upsell and overcharge for their services. These mold remediation companies mask their true intentions to complete a “free inspection” to get an opportunity to market their services to you. Eradicator charges an inspection fee that is credited to the proposal price if work is needed and you choose to use our services. We advise all our clients we do make money from inspection fees but due to the fact that we provide mold removal services to the entire state of New Jersey we have a limited resource which is time. To ensure we are not foolishly assisting everyone that don’t need our services and some that have no intentions of moving forward (after the initial inspection) an inspection fee limits the potential of dealing with these individuals (who don’t need our mold removal and mold testing services).
